The Visa has BEEN APPROVED!

Ola tudo!
That's right... the Visa has been approved!
Not sure when they'll be shipping me off to Portugal but it will happen at some point haha!

Sorry for the short letter. This week has been great. We started teaching three new people and now have 2 on date to be baptized. It never ceases to amaze me how much the Gospel of Jesus Christ can change someone's life.

Short Spiritual thought for ya:
"This world desperately needs the Gospel of Jesus Christ." president James E. Faust
Never forget that. Time is running out. As our beloved prophet Russell M. Nelson has told us, now is the time to make those changes in your life if needed. Then towards Christ and choose to be better than you were yesterday through Him. Now is the time, don't wait!

Love you all! Go out and tell your fam you love them today:)

Love,
Sister Tay Cannon

The Light of Christ

Ola friends and family!!

So sorry for not writing last week. Life as a missionary is crazy even on p day!

Last Monday, the district went to downtown Spokane to RiverFront park and the mall. We smelled all the candles in bath and body works, got pretzels for lunch, I bought a super cute pair of shoes because my other pair had basically been walked to death, and we climbed on a huge red wagon! Twas a very fun day!
Also, there is a garbage goat downtown. At first, when I heard that I thought it was symbolic or something but NOPE there is a literal metal goat that sucks up garbage! Who knew!
Minor miracle: at some point that morning I lost my missionary credit card and was freaking out all day because I'd already lost one in the MTC (pray for my forgetful brain por favor). When we got back to our apartment, it was sitting on our doorknob. Some angelic soul found it and brought it back to me! Bless all the good people in this world.
Last week, we met a woman named Ashley. When she opened her door to us, she was like "the Book of Mormon! I wanna learn more about that" so we made a time to come back and talk with her more about it. So we met with her this Wednesday and a member of our ward (congregation) came with us. It was such an incredible discussion. The Spirit was so incredibly strong and I'll tell you what, the Book of Mormon is WITHOUT A DOUBT the word of God. Just reading a few verses from 3 Nephi 11 about Christ's coming to Earth reaffirmed to me right there and then that this Book is true! I could tell Ashley felt it as well.
Little tip about the Spirit: if you can feel it, everyone else can feel it too. It fills rooms and places and people! Such a beautiful thing.

Just on Saturday, our mission got visited by a member of the Quorum of the 12 apostles, Elder Gary E. Stevenson!
Every missionary in the mission gathered in the Coeur D'Alene Stake Center in Idaho and we all took a picture together before we heard him speak.
He spoke all about the sacred calling of a mission. This hit me really hard because I was originally called to serve in the Lisbon, Portugal mission. And because I ended up here in Spokane, it's taken some time to really understand that the Lord has called me to this mission. The Visa office didnt do that. I am called to serve here just as much as I am Portugal. He bore testimony that as we consecrate ourselves to that sacred calling, we will see miracles and we will touch the lives of those who God has put into our path. I know that is true!

Go out and spread the light of Christ that you carry. Go and share that joy. And if you yourself are still looking for it, open up the Book of Mormon and start reading in 3 Nephi 11. I promise that if you read this book with an intent to learn more about the light of Christ, you will feel the joy He brings through repentance and the Atonement in your life instantly.

I love you all! Go out and be a little bolder in spreading your love for Christ in both word and action.

Love,
Sister Tayler Cannon :)

6 More Weeks in Spokane!

Ola friends and family!
Welp still no news on the VISA so 6 more weeks in beautiful Spokane! I'm super relieved because I'm not sure I'm quite ready yet to leave Haha!
This week was very interesting! Both my comp and I got sick so we were indoors a lot but they gave me lots of time to do some phone contacting and to get a hold of a lot of people we've been wanting to.

Also, I got stung by a wasp on my wrist on Thursday and turns out I'm somewhat allergic bc it's been a couple days and the swelling is still a great time! But what're ya gonna do? :)

Its started to get really hot hear in Spokane- mostly 90s and sometimes it reaches 100! Preparing me for Portugal I guess!

On a better note, we had another Portuguese Visa waiter join our zone!! His name is Elder Madsen! I'm pumped to be able to practice my Portuguese haha

Sorry for another short email. I hope y'all had a great week! Remember that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the World and He loves each and every one of you!

Tchau for now!

Note to read at Andrew and Sarah's wedding luncheon

Andrew and Sarah,
I remember that day mom told me you went on your first date. I was sitting with my roommate and mom sent me a picture you two took and we both freaked out because it was so cute!
I was so grateful I got to be there the day you proposed (even though I was creepily hiding in a Bush with a video camera). I so wish I could be here today with you in person but please know that my heart is with you both. This is such a special day and I couldn't be more excited for you both!
Sarah, there is absolutely NO ONE I'd rather have as a sister in law than you. I love you so much and I'm so glad you're a part of the family!
Andrew, eu te amo. Tu és um ejemplo para mim. Eu olho para você. Eu te admirava. Eu te admiro agora e para sempre. Obrigada por ajudando me sempre E por sendo o melhor irmão do mundo! Parabems neste dia especial.
Eu te amo muito!
Congratulations to you both! I love you so much now and forever.
You're favorite sister,
Tay
