a very eventful week :)

T R A N S F E R S
So this week was pretty insane!!
Saying goodbye to everyone in Viseu was pretty horrible. That's definitely the hardest part about being transferred. But I'm hoping to come back and visit soon after the mission so I only said, "até logo" (see you soon) to everyone.
We had transfers on Wednesday and it was super cool seeing everybody from my mtc district! It was the first time everybody was together since the mtc!!
Then I said goodbye to my Viseu buds and headed off to Porto with my new comp, Sister Hansen who had just flown in from the Island Madeira earlier that day!
After another 4 hours of travelingand walking, we got to our apartment. Turns out, we're opening the area!! I thought we were just white washing but SUPRISE!! But man I'm excited to work here in Porto. It's the exact same apartment where my brother stayed for 9 months of his mission!
On sunday, I gave a talk and introduced myself, and when I said my name everyone suddenly realized that I was Elder Cannons sister. So many people know and love him! It's been pretty incredible just in the past 3 days here!

O P E N I N G
So because were opening the area, we aren't teaching anyone and were starting completely from scratch but I already know were gonna see some miracles this transfer!

This week:
We got mooned by an old man on the road
I fell down some stairs and now my leg looks black and blue
We set off the alarm in the chapel
I broke a chair

Also:
My companion is literally Moana! (She can sing, she's got the hair, and she plays the uke)
The accent is WAY easier to understand here in Porto than in Viseu!!

last week in viseu

Hey yal!
So as you could probably tell by the title, I'm getting transferred from Viseu and I'll be heading to Porto where my brother served for 9 months, in the same ward!
I'm thrilled to go walk on the same streets that he did, meet the members who he knew and loved, and hopefully teach some of the same people he did!
Itll be pretty incredible!
This week, we didn't see much new. Viseu's still beautiful as always even though they're taking down all the christmas lights.
I saw a pretty small, but cool miracle this week about the power of prayer. We were in this sketchy area outside the city at night in the cold and both felt very uncomfortable being alone in the dark. We were waiting alone at this bus stop waiting for a bus that would arrive in10 minutes. This car rolled up and just stopped next to the bus stop. We were doing our best to listen to the spirit to guide us as to what we should do. And both of us felt very uncomfortable about this car stopped right there. But we felt prompted to stay put.
For the next 5 minutes we felt continually more uncomfortable about this car and whoever was in it, not sure why. But it was not a good feeling. I said a quick prayer in my head just asking for a bit of comfort. And as I finished my prayer, a member, a young adult named Guilherme comes running up to us and is like yo i didnt think I'd find yal here. I felt instantly better having him there. And 1 minute later our bus pulled up there almost 10 minutes early, which we would have missed if we would have moved.
It's a small this but I know that the Lord protects us and is watching over us always. And most certainly hears our prayers!

I love you all and I hope you have a great week!

week of fireworks & miracles :)

HAPPY 2020!! I hope yal had a great new year with lots of fireworks and food!
We didn't get to see the fireworks because we had to be at home at 10 but that's ok because we sure heard them from our apartment!
We found 2 new people to teach this week which for our area is a TON so thats a huge blessing. And were seeing some huge miracles!
Our friend who got baptized last transfer is going to the temple for the first time on the 18th and were super hoping we get to go with him. What a blessing that would be. But we'll see what happens with transfers next week.
Sorry I don't have much to tell this week. It was a good but long one. And next week we'll have transfer news so STAY TUNED.

Spiritual thought:
I was reading this talk by President Nelson from the general conference in April 2019 called The Book of Mormon: What Would Your Life Be Like Without It. And it gives a long list of reasons why we need the Book of Mormon in our lives.
Man, this book, literally has changed my life. The new appreciation I have for my Savior and His Gospel is something I could never receive in any other way than from reading this book.
It really is another Testament of Jesus Christ.
If you haven't read it yet, please try it. Read the introduction and the testimonies at the very front and you'll already recognize just how much this Book teaches us about our Savior Jesus Christ.

Love you all! Keep up those new years resolutions!
And have a great second week of 2020:)
