2019

January 2nd 2019, 2019 started off in the holiest place on earth, I finally understood for the first time in my life, the divinity of the House of the Lord

May 8th 2019, the start of the most life changing, spectacular, miracle-filled journey of my life

My 5 mission comps up until now, some of my best of friends:
Sister Scott
Sister Alton
Sister Petersen
Sister Fraser
Sister Ragazzo

And now that this year's coming to an end, I'm recognizing the influence of others so strongly in my life. I learn from those around me and from my Savior Jesus Christ every day and I could not be more grateful for that. Not just with portuguese (granted, bc of the people around me and the Spirit of the Lord, I went from knowing no Portuguese 8 months ago to where I am now) but also spiritually. I've seen the Light of Christ in so many aspects of life and in so many people. I cant wait to see what this next year brings.
Have hope for this next year. It will be what you make of it, but let God work miracles in your life and let Him mold you each day of 2020.

Doctrine and Covenants 101:16
"Therefore, let your hearts be comforted concerning Zion; for all flesh is in mine hands; be still and know that I am God."

And FELIZ NATAL E NOVO ANO from your friends and family here in V I S E U❤🎄⭐

Feliz Natal :)

Sorry I don't have a lot of time to write!
Merry Christmas(Feliz Natal!)!!
I hope everyone had a great week and has lots of fun plans for Christmas here in just a few days.
This past week, we were able to start teaching 2 different people which for our area is a HUGE blessing! I know that this season of Christmas is very special and the Lord is blessing us and the people here in Viseu.
I got a message from a lady I taught in Spokane, she was baptized on Saturday and I got to call her for a bit (don't mind the photo attached below, I was crying while talking to her). It is a privilege to see the Lives of people be changed through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I feel so incredibly blessed!

If you're feeling a little less of the Christmas spirit this season, I invite you to hop on lighttheworld.org and take a look at what Christmas is supposed to be. Watch the video the Christ Child and really see why we celebrate Christmas. You'll feel and see why this holiday is the most celebrated around the globe, here in Portugal too;)

I love you all, I'm so grateful for all of you and your examples for me. I feel the prayers that are being said on behalf of the missionaries throughout the world.
     Have a WONDERFUL Christmas!

Love,
Sister Tay Cannon

marta :)

Olá!! Bom dia tudo mundo:)

Hey!! Good morning everyone:)
I hope you're all doing well. I thoght a lot about you all--my family and friends--this week. I thought about how lucky I am to have marvelous and loving family and friends. Wow, I didn't really recognize the blessing that you all are in my life until I left. I am very very blessed. I just wanted to say thank you for the support and love. Love you all!

This week started with a beautiful family night with some Brazilian members. We watched the Christ Child video and I think I could continue to watch that video over and over again and still not get sick of it. The Spirit of the reality depicted in that video is remarkable!

We were invited to a birthday party in the church building for a member less active that we didn't know. But we got to know her and she is one of the sweetest people I've ever met, and after hearing her story from her mother, I marvel at the sweet spirit of Marta.
She grew up here in Viseu and was converted with her family many years ago. She turned 19 and served a mission in Brazil. She loved her mission. She got home, got engaged to be married and suddenly one day she got really sick. And one week later she was in a state where she couldn't speak, walk, eat by herself, or basically do anything. But her brain functions perfect.
When I spoke to her for just a couple minutes, I mentioned that I'm a missionary and I saw a smile in her eyes. Other people told me about how much she loves the Gospel and about how she always had such a good attitude and always has the light of Christ with her. Even in the state she's in right now, she glows with the light of Christ. Its incredible!
I learned something very important from Marta. That having the light of Christ is about our soul. She glows of righteous and Christlike desires. And even though she cant speak or move, it is clear her soul is pure and incredible! What a beautiful young woman:)

Christmas is just around the corner and were super excited over here!
Go watch the Christ Child video the Church came out with. It's absolutely beautiful!

I hope you all have a great week!
Love you♡

o Sandro e batismo :)

Olá!
Wowwwww! What. A. Week. We are so exhausted today just because of how packed our semana was. It was long and very busy but also probably one of the best weeks I've had yet on the mission.
Some super cool stuff happened this week:

1)Sandro was baptized! Was way more sweeter and incredible than I ever imagined.
2)we took a quick trip on over to Lisboa for SEF residency. It was fun to take a random road trip but lots of time on the autocarro. I also got to see my fellow Spokanian missionaries--Sister Scott and Sister Alton!
3)we got to see the Temple again!
4)we had our final lesson with o Sandro and the baptismal interview
5)Sandro was confirmed a member in Church yesterday, and received the Holy Ghost! Woohoo!
6)found out that neither of us will leave Viseu! We get to stay for Natal here!
7)they handed out new Come, Follow Me (for the Book of Mormon this year)

Wow this week was crazy but it flew by! Transfers are this week, but the Sister and I are sticking together another transfer and we're so excited!

We sang a song during Sandro's baptism called O Seu Nome Tem Poder (I think it's His Name in English... but I could be totally wrong). I love this song bc it's all about the power behind the Lords name. We get to wear the Lord's name every day on our badge but we can also wear the Lords name every day through the way we live our life. When we live our life in a Christ like way we will appear more like Him, as in we will carry His spirit with us. This week, Sandro chose to make a covenant with God through baptism and he literally took the name of Christ upon him. I've seen the grace of Christ's atonement work in His life and bc he is following Christ, I can literally see the spirit that he carries more abundantly. What a blessing it's been to watch his journey. And I cant wait to watch him continue now that the doors have opened for him!

I hope everyone is doing well and ate LOTS of Thanksgiving food for me!
I sure am thankful to have so many supporting friends and family. Until next time♡

Amoooooo vocês!
